Lecturer's
Talent Contest
Each
Pomona should have a run-off to choose the number
to represent them at the State Competition. The
State Winner will go to the Regional Run-Offs
for New
England. Time Limit: 6 minutes. STATE
RUN-OFFS will be held at Good Will Grange
Hall, Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury at 1:00 P.M. on
Sunday, June 8, 2008. This is in conjunction
with Grange Sunday.
Talent Contest Rules are as follows:
| 1. |
All
performers being judged must be Grange members.
Groups performing may include Junior Grangers
and/or children too young to hold Junior Grange
membership. However, at least half of the performers
in the group must be subordinate members. |
| 2. |
Participants
need not be members of the same Grange. |
| 3. |
Taped
accompaniment for vocal acts must be instrumental
only with no additional voices in the background.
There will be no taped accompaniment for instrumental
acts. |
| 4. |
When
the accompanist is only the accompanist and not
a performer in his/her own right, it is no longer
required that the accompanist be a Grange member. |
| 5. |
No
sign language performances will be permitted in
the vocal category of the Talent Contest. |
| 6. |
Time
Limit: There is no minimum time. Maximum time
is six minutes. Two points per minute or portion
thereof will be deducted from total points for
all performances going overtime. |
| 7. |
Best
of Show entry from each State Grange will be eligible
to compete in the regional Talent Finals held
at the Northeast Grange Lecturer’s Conference in August. |
| 8. |
Only
persons who performed in the state judging and
were designated as Best of Show may represent
the State Grange in the Regional Contest. |
