| AUGUST 20, 2010 -- Connecticut's booming farmers market movement has led to a new shortage: farmers and the fresh vegetables they grow.
So, the Connecticut chapter of the Northeast Organic Farmington Association, with the cooperation of many Connecticut agricultral groups, will be running two on-farm workhops on Aug. 23 and Aug. 30 to train people interested in entering organic farming.
On Aug. 30, four farmers will present their growing and marketing strategies for flowers and vegetables at the Community Farm of Simsbury at 73 Wolcott Road, from 5 to 8 p.m.
On Aug. 23, at The Hickories farm at 126 Lounsbury Road in Ridgefield, farmer Dina Brewster will talk about starting and managing a Community Supported Agriculture farm. The event will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and include a tour of Brewster's farm.
Pre-registration is requested and can be made through http://www.ctnofa.org or by calling 203-888-5146.
