| SEPTEMBER 11, 2010 -- The Farmer’s Cow, local dairy farmers providing Connecticut-produced fresh milk and other products, is marking the debut of its new super premium ice cream line with “The Farmers’ Cow Lick” Corn Maze. The maze is located at Fort Hill Farms, 260 Quaddick Rd in Thompson, Connecticut, one of the members of The Farmer’s Cow, and is open for everyone to enjoy until November 8th.
“After nearly a year-and-a-half of hard work our ice cream line is now available at Stop & Shop grocery stores across Connecticut and we figured a great way to celebrate would be to have this year’s corn maze be ice cream themed,” says Peter Orr, owner of Fort Hill Farms.
“The maze is shaped like a cow licking an ice cream cone and consists of a smaller Mini-Moo-Maze for the younger kids sponsored by The Farmer’s Cow and a larger maze for all ages sponsored by Stop & Shop. Both mazes are an excellent opportunity to have lots of fun, learn about life on a farm, and get some exercise too.”
When entering the maze, visitors will be given a worksheet, and as they walk the path they will look for hidden clues about the history of ice cream and other interesting ice cream facts.
“The Farmer’s Cow is proud to once again be sponsoring the Corn Maze Adventure and encourages everyone to come out and have some great fun trying to find their way out of the maze,” says Robin Chesmer, Managing Partner with The Farmer’s Cow.
“Last year the corn maze was extremely popular with visitors from all across New England. This year, with the opening of Fort Hill Farms’ creamery, visitors will be able to get lost in the maze, learn some fun facts about ice cream, and then visit The Creamery to cool off and enjoy The Farmer’s Cow wonderful Connecticut made super premium ice cream. It promises to be lots of fun.”
Hours for the maze are Sunday though Thursday 10am until 5pm, on Friday and Saturday the maze opens at 10am and stays open later until 10pm for flashlight nights. Those looking to experience the maze should wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and dress appropriately for the weather. No dogs or other animals are allowed in the maze.
Maze admission is $12 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Groups of 20 or more are required to call in advance for special reservations. Visitors can show their Stop & Shop card and save $1 off admission. For more information visit www.thefarmerscow.com/maze or call (860) 923-3439.
