| OCTOBER 18, 2010 -- Residents of Anderson County, SC and surrounding areas will have an opportunity to view the 83rd National FFA Convention live from Indianapolis on the RFD-TV Satellite Network Oct. 20 through Oct. 23, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the S.C. FFA organization. The telecasts will be hosted by internationally known farm broadcasters Orion Samuelson and Max Armstrong.
RFD-TV will capture all the action as more than 55,000 FFA members, advisers and guests representing every state, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands attend general sessions, compete in national finals in more than 40 agricultural career development events, experience educational leadership seminars and visit the 1,300-plus exhibit Agricultural Career Show.
The network is available to more than 40 million homes as a basic channel on Dish Network (9409), Direct TV (379), Mediacom, NCTC and other cable systems.
The schedule for the national convention program coverage is Oct. 20 from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Oct. 21 from 1:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Oct. 22 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.; and Oct. 23 from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
“The gavel-to-gavel live TV coverage of the National Convention is indicative of the increased interest in and support of the FFA and Agricultural Education at the local, state and national level,” Parris said. “More than 300 exciting and rewarding career opportunities in the science, business and technology of 21 century Agriculture await those young people who are educationally prepared.”
