| JANUARY 18, 2011 -- The Connecticut offices of the Natural Resources Conservation Service reminds farmers and landowners that Jan. 28 is the deadline to apply for two federal conservation grant programs, the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and the Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program.
The first program provides financial and technical help to farmers for improving conservation practices on agricultural and forest land. Nutrient management, manure management and integrated pest management are also eligible.
The wildlife program offers assistance to landowners for improving fish and wildlife habitats or restoring natural ecosystems.
The programs are administered by the conservation service, part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which has five offices in Connecticut, including in Norwich and Brooklyn.
