Resources available for storm-impacted farmers

By James Mosher, Norwich Bulletin (2/8/11)

  FEBRUARY 19, 2011 --

Aid programs are available for Eastern Connecticut farmers impacted by the recent winter storms, U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, announced recently.

The U.S. Farm Service Agency includes several programs such as the Livestock Indemnity Program and the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees, and Farm-Raised Fish Program, he said. New London County farmers should call their FSA office at (860) 859-5218. The number for the Windham County FSA office is (860) 774-0224.

Fact sheets are at available http://www.fsa.usda.gov.

“If they have not already, they (farmers) should document their expenses and contact FSA and my office as soon as possible,” the congressman said in a press release.
