| JUNE 26, 2011 -- U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, will tour four Eastern Connecticut farms Monday to highlight the region’s products — beef, fruit, vegetables, forest products, hydroponic lettuce and black currants.
Courtney also will raise awareness of the challenges facing local farmers, including the impact of rising energy costs.
Courtney will visit farms in Quaker Hill, Preston, Pomfret Center and North Grosvenordale.
His visit, a collaboration with the Connecticut Farm Bureau, coincides with the beginning of congressional hearings into reauthorizing the farm bill — comprehensive legislation addressing the needs of America’s agriculture industry. |
