| AUGUST 14, 2011 -- Mountain County Pomona takes July and August off but there’s plenty of news to report in the meantime. Our annual Spring Gift Drawing was held at the June meeting and we thank Riverton Grange for hosting the meeting. The Gift Drawing featured many different items including plants, chocolates, gift cards, and even some cash! We thank everyone who sold and purchased tickets. The gift drawing is the only official fundraiser of the Pomona so its success is very important.
Election of Officers was held at this meeting as well with several significant changes in the line-up for 2012. Master Todd Gelineau will retire in September with George Russell assuming the office. Sara Bement will step down as Pomona with Kim Mele taking charge of the court. We thank Sister Janet Healy for her service as Treasurer of the Pomona as she steps down and Brother Earl Phillips takes her place. There were also several other changes, so join us for the installation of officers to be held on September 12 at Riverton Grange Hall. The Cameron/Barnes Installation Team will be doing the honors.
On a more somber note, it is necessary to make note of a passing in our Pomona. While plans are being formulated by the Grange Growth Team for revitalization, the current leadership and membership of Litchfield Grange has voted to close effective September 22. It has been a painful process for all of the members and we wish the best for each member of Litchfield Grange. Mountain County Pomona has always been a tightly knit family of brothers and sisters and it’s difficult to see our brothers and sisters go through these difficulties. We have great hope that revitalization will plant new roots for a new Litchfield Grange and the current members will find new, happy homes either in Litchfield Grange or in neighboring Granges. |
