Grown In CT: Apples For Pies And Cider Are Abundant

Rick Macsuga of the Connecticut Department of Agriculture said there are no big surprises in the markets this week but that shoppers can expect more variety of the fall fruits and vegetables.

"Cider is being made now," Macsuga said. "If you're an apple aficionado, this is really the time to be picking and eating."

Macsuga said there is also an increasing variety of ornamental crops like cut corn stalks, hay bales, pumpkins and gourds.
