| OCTOBER 13, 2011 -- New London County farmers are eligible for disaster assistance by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for damage related to Tropical Storm Irene, Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, announced Thursday.
"This is very good news for farmers in New London County, but it underscores again that other Connecticut Counties and farmers are still waiting for a final decision from USDA," Courtney said in a news release.
Farmers in Tolland, Windham and Hartford counties were previously declared eligible.
Courtney said he will work to ensure that all of the state's farmers affected by the storm receive assistance to help with recovery efforts. |
