| NOVEMBER 22, 2011 -- Several organizations that work to preserve Connecticut farmland will host a free workshop from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Canterbury Community Center, 1 Municipal Drive.
Sponsored by the Last Green Valley’s AGvocate program, the workshop is designed to provide information about the array of public programs available to help landowners preserve farmland.
Speakers will include: Elisabeth Moore, director of conservation for the Connecticut Farmland Trust; Kip Kolesinskas, state soil scientist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Natural Resources Conservation Service; J. Joseph Dippel, director of the state Department of Agriculture’s Farmland Preservation Program; Phil Chester, Lebanon town planner; and Jim Rivers, Pomfret first selectman.
