| DECEMBER 18, 2011 -- The Connecticut Department of Agriculture's new Community Farms Preservation Program has $2 million available for cooperative state-local farmland preservation projects in qualifying municipalities.
"One of the most exciting aspects of this program is its especially good fit for smaller farms that have excellent agricultural soils and contribute to local economic activity..." said Agriculture Commissioner Steven Reviczky in a news release.
Prequalification of interested municipalities will be done by May 31, and applications will be due by July 31. Preference will be given to small food-producing farms.
