Volunteers are still needed for the 2008 National Convention in Cromwell
FEBRUARY 2007 -- National Grange will meet in Connecticut November 11-15, 2008.  There is MUCH to do!!  This will be the 142nd annual session of the National Grange.  The Convention’s headquarters will be in Cromwell, CT.

Volunteers are needed in many areas.  Please sign your name, address, Grange, telephone & email address (if you have one) for the spot(s) you are interested in assisting with...

REGISTRATION DESK:  The telephone is manned by state personnel before the convention begins.  The host state maintains a registration table in the hotel lobby from the Monday before the convention through the completion of the Seventh Degree on Saturday.  A minimum of four FOUR people should be working at all times and EIGHT are required during “rush” times.  State personnel are also needed to register people on site at the “Evening of Excellence” and the conferral of the Seventh Degree.

PRODUCTION ROOM:  Two volunteers who are computer and copier “savvy” must be available to assist throughout the session.  Hopefully enough volunteers will come forward to allow for numerous shifts.

TRANSPORTATION:  Volunteers are needed to drive delegates, officers - others flying in to the attend the convention, from the airport(s) to the headquarters hotel.  Drivers may be needed to shuttle the cast of the Seventh Degree to and from rehearsals.  Drivers will be needed to return attendees to the airport(s) at the close of the convention.

HOSPITALITY ROOM:  This is the responsibility of the host state; the states assisting will probably take a turn, or help in some way... food, beverages and staff must always be ready to serve delegates and anyone attending the convention.

MEDIA DESK:  One volunteer must cover the media desk while the National Grange Public Relations Manager is conducting or setting up interviews... this is a continuous process throughout the session.

SALES:  Two volunteers (in shifts) must help in the sales booth.

CONVENTION OFFICE:  One person must assist the National Convention office with ticket sales.

MISCELLANEOUS:  Ditty bags, grow club and Past Delegate favors, meal favors... There are MANY items to be made and/or purchased...

The above is not even a complete list of all that is needed to run a smooth convention.  Thank you for considering volunteering your time/talents!
