Around The Grange
Greenfield Hill News for July

By Dennis Rich

  JULY 17, 2015 --

May was both a busy and festive time for us.  It started with an enjoyable concert with the “Benefit Street Band” and E.C. Bradley.  Mid-month, we had Seedling Exchange, with an increased participation as compared with last year.  Meanwhile the future Junior group was active making “Saw Horse” style devices to support climbing gardens.  In the evening we enjoyed a “Spring Fling Pasta Night” capped off with a talk by Lee Ganim, “That Garden Guy.”  He has a radio show at 8:30 A.M. on WICC 600 on Sunday mornings.

Anyone needing a fair booklet for exhibit categories should contact Steve Golias, our chairman and lecturer, should call him at 203-367-4373.  He also will have information for anyone interested in vendor space.

The summer will be highlighted by a celebration of the Fairfield Community Garden.  Date and specifics will be available from Eric Frisk at 203-256-8439.  Plant Science Day will take place August 5th at Lockwood Farm off Route 10 in Hamden, CT.

Let’s look forward to a productive summer.  All of our Grange friends are welcome to our meetings and activities.

July 20:  “Picnic/Fair Planning”; Picnic 6 P.M., Meeting 7 P.M.

Aug. 22:  Annual Agricultural Fair, 10 A.M. – 4 P.M.
