July News From Colchester Grange

We welcomed our regular guests, Ted Beebe, Master of Norwich Grange and Lois Evankow, Lecturer of Lyme Grange. As always, we thank them for their participation at our meetings. We would also like to thank our previous month’s guest, George Rood for his piano playing and for making our singing sound almost good. George, you are welcome anytime.

We continue with our volunteer work at Harrington Court and Apple Rehab., and thank Eva O’Connell for her beautifully decorated May baskets for the Apple Rehab residents. They were very much appreciated.

Our float in the Colchester Memorial Day Parade won first place this year, and thank you to everyone who helped to make it another successful year.

Our members received several awards for their Afghans. Baby Afghan winners were: Dot Mrowka, 1st place for Ruth Tallman 2nd place and Diane Leith 3rd place. Afghan winners were: Diane Leith, 1st place, Tara Violette and Barbara Hock 2nd place. Baby Set winners were: 1st place, Maureen Taylor and 2nd place, Sue Haas. Congratulations to all for all the beautiful entries.

Gardening implements were donated to the Bacon Academy Environmental Club for their Academy Arts Program to use for their gardening activities.

We continue to collect used stamps for Veterans programs and plastic containers for the Willimantic Soup Kitchen.

We received thank you letters from our Scholarship recipients: Katherine Hageman who will be attending the University of Vermont, and Michael Rumbel who will be attending Western New England College. We wish them well in their studies.
