Around The Grange
Dec 2021 News from Senexet Grange No. 40

By Diane Miller

  DECEMBER 12, 2021 --

Dec.  15:  Christmas Party and Potluck

Jan.  19:  Resolutions 2022 and Health Screenings.

We have had a busy fall. We continue to hold monthly meetings in person. We hosted the local hobby, homesteaders and horsekeepers for another informational meeting on Grazing  Animals and another on Forest Management. These were sponsored by the Eastern Connecticut Conservation District and were in person and on Zoom. It is so good to see so many locals interested in these sessions. There have been continuing sales of our recycled shopping bags. Having events in our hall shows the public what we are doing. There are several large displays of Grange events and programs. A local group  hold  yoga  sessions  in  our hall several days each week. In October we held our awards night program and presented many long-term members including one to 80-year member Minola Terwilliger. Others received 50-year certificates and seals. Those not able to attend would receive their awards delivered to their homes. We will be making pork pies and other holiday pies for sale for the holidays. .

We also held a meet the candidates’ day for the local town offices.

Several members attended the State Grange session where Amy Monahan received the Lecturer’s Appreciation Award. We were pleased to have one of our young members Ciri Miller receive a Scholarship. She is attending UConn studying biology with a goal of going to medical school.

We are working on getting our hall updated for group meetings. We are also planning to get involved with several local events including the Woodstock holiday festival. Space will be made available for vendors.

We hope to see members and friends come to our Christmas party on December 15.
