From the State Secretary: State Session Will Be Here Soon

By Todd Gelineau, CT State Grange Secretary

  July 3, 2022 --

It seems summer has just begun and we’re already looking towards State Session in October. As there are many deadlines to meet, we have to start early to ensure a successful Session.

Soon your Granges will be receiving the Call to Session and delegate cards. You should decide on your Delegates as soon as possible and get the Delegate Cards back to the State Grange office right away (but no later than the deadline on the cards) so we can get packets of information and Zoom information out to each delegate.

For the Zoom meetings  to be successful, we need to have resolutions in from the Granges. Resolutions are due into the State Grange Office as soon as possible (preferably before Sept. 15) to allow for preparation prior to being sent on to Session Committees who will again meet prior to State Session.

If you are submitting a resolution dealing with a by-laws related issue, IT MUST BE IN BY SEPT

15 to allow for proper notice to all Granges.

Room reservations should be made with the Holiday Inn Norwich no later than September 26, 2022 by calling the number in Norwich listed below. Please do not call the Holiday Inn corporate line. They will not be able to book your room properly under the guaranteed block rate we have arranged.

The rate this year is $109.00 plus tax. It is about four dollars more than last year. Anyone who has traveled during the last year or so has noticed a sharp increase in hotel costs. It is remarkable we are able to lock-in rates so low. Please book early-- DON’T WAIT FOR THE DEADLINE.

Registrations for Session are due no later than September 30. Please keep in mind that if you are a Delegate who wishes to receive the Delegate Reimbursement payment from the State Grange, you must attend ALL sessions, including the Celebration Banquet on Friday evening. This does require the additional purchase of a banquet ticket. Tickets will only be punched at the door of each session. Because this is an election year, the final session will be the Installation of Officers on Saturday afternoon following the Sixth Degree.

Our Membership Director is currently working on a special presentation on Thursday evening by a guest speaker to get our Session off on the right note. Please talk up the Session to members of your Grange and encourage them to attend all or part of State Session. It’s not just for Delegates and State Officers.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions:

Todd A. Gelineau, Secretary 100 Newfield Road, PO Box 3 Winchester Center, CT 06094 Cell: 860-307-1522, Secretary@CTStateGrange.org

Delegate cards - The Call to State Session and registration information will be sent out to Granges shortly and an advance copy of the registration form is printed on page 3 of this issue.
