| AUGUST 14, 2026 -- A few highlights: A huge thank- you to Boy Scout Troop 90 and their parents for sprucing up the grounds at our Grange this spring. We are so grateful for their hard work and community spirit.
In June, we celebrated America 250 with a BBQ dinner, complete with strawberry shortcake. We were honored to welcome guest speaker, historian, and author Laura Lugo, who shared the story of the 100 Revolutionary War veterans interred in Greenfield Hill Cemetery. Laura spent six years researching and writing The Connecticut Revolutionaries of the Greenfield Hill Cemetery: 1775–1783. Thank you, Laura, for preserving this history and bringing these men’s stories to light.
Also, in commemoration of America 250, Greenfield Hill Grange had a dogwood tree planted on the grounds. The tree was generously donated and planted by Oliver’s Nursery, and we are deeply grateful for their kindness in helping us mark this special occasion.
We hosted a craft night to make Christmas ornaments to be sold at the New England Grange Building at The Big E. Thank you to all of the crafty volunteers who came out to help—we appreciate your time, talent, and creativity!
Hello Summer! So far, so true! The Old Farmer’s Almanac was right on target about our past winter, and it looks like the summer forecast may be coming true as well. “Hotter- than-normal summer across most of North America for 2026, featuring prolonged, sweltering heat waves in July and August.”
Here’s hoping it will be moderate for all the Granges’ upcoming Agricultural Fairs. Speaking of: The Greenfield Hill Grange fair date is set for August 22, 2026. We hope to see you there. As well, we are hosting our “End of the Summer (are we really there already?) Lobster Bake Fundraiser”-- complete with shrimp, corn, coleslaw, potatoes, and all the fixings.
