Cawasa Grange August News Update

By Maggie Schofield, Cawasa Grange

  AUGUST 4, 2011 --

We lost another good Granger, Eleanor Tallmadge.  I did not know Eleanor, but heard she was a lovely lady and loved her gardens in Canton.

So happy the fall is coming with the cooler weather.

We held a large picnic on July. 23, Saturday for the Canton Historical Museum and the temperature was 97!  Fortunately, it started at 3 P.M. and the backyard was shaded where we all sit... “Whew!”

Our Pomona Picnic will be held on Aug. 28... the same back yard.

Our food bank is going well, for August we put together Pasta, dried veggies, can of chicken or tuna, then they can make their pasta salads.

Not sure what we will be doing in September.  The Chex Mix snack was a big hit for July.

We have several Grangers who are doing a lot of community service hours.  Keep up the good work.

Funny quotes:

“If your parents never had children, chances are... neither will you!”  Dick Cavett

“I must be wishing on someone else’s star because it seems someone else is always getting what I wished for.”  Unknown

“I never behold the heavens filled with stars, that i do not feel I am looking at the face of God.  I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how he could look UP into the Heavens and say there is no God.”  Abraham Lincoln
