By Hartford Courant (8/26/10)

  AUGUST 27, 2010 --

Barbara Ann Case, 80, of Bloomfield, died Friday (August 6, 2010), at Wintonbury Health Care, Bloomfield. She was born May 24, 1930, daughter of the late Edmund E. and Helen Frances (Banning) Case.

Barbie was a quintessential farm girl, growing up on Nattawanut Farm on Duncaster Road, raising prize-winning Holstein calves as a member of 4-H and enjoying the company of her many friends in the organizations she belonged to including: Tunxis Grange #13, Bloomfield, The Eastern Star, Good Intent Chapter, No. 17, and the Order of the Amaranth.

A lifelong Bloomfield resident, she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years with the First Congregational Church and was a graduate of the Morse School of Business where she received her Associates Degree. Barbara retired from The Travelers Insurance Company in 1990 after 41 years of loyal service.

Among the joys of Barbie's life were her adopted golden retriever, Debbie, and her cat Dexter. She was a lover and protector of all animals, great and small; a kind, gentle and trusting woman known for her friendship and devotion to those around her.

She is survived by a niece, Patricia A. Case, her husband Kenneth N. Goldberg and their daughter Elizabeth of South Windsor; a nephew, Alfred Curtis Case, Jr., his wife Isabel Santos Case of Coventry and their son Dominic Santos of Hartford; a niece, Susan Case Lunt, her husband Richard L. Lunt, their two children Richard L. Lunt, Jr. and Alfred Eli Lunt of Columbia; a niece, Kimberly Case Rastallis, her husband Andrew Rastallis and their son Zachary Case Rastallis of East Granby; two nephews, Theodore Case Stanley and Robin Case Stanley of Florida and a former sister-in-law, Joyce A. Case of North Windham. She was predeceased by her two brothers "Bob" Edmund Hoskins Case, and Alfred Curtis Case, Sr.

There are no calling hours. Graveside service and burial will be Friday, (August 27th), 1 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, 30 Mountain Avenue, Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Order of the Eastern Star, Good Intent Chapter # 17, c/o Lorraine Decker, 1362 Neipsic Road, Glastonbury, CT 06033.
