TODAY: Town Hall Meeting with the National Grange President

By Terri Fassio, Public Relations Co-Director

  APRIL 30, 2012 --

As part of Connecticut's Grange Month celebrations, National Grange President Edward L. Luttrell will be making a visit to the state on Monday, April 30, as part of his cross-country tour.  The Connecticut State Grange will be hosting the President's visit at Good Will Grange Hall located at 43 Naubuc Avenue, Glastonbury.  The evening will begin at 7:30 PM. The town-hall style meeting is open to all who wish to attend; Grange membership is not required.

Luttrell will discuss topics of interest to the Grange and Connecticut, including Grange growth and teamwork, community service, communications and more.  Connecticut State Grange President Jody Cameron will oversee the evening.

Luttrell of Sandy, Oregon was elected the 22nd President of the National Grange in November 2007.  He is a past president of the Oregon State Grange and has served on the boards of the Oregon Lands Coalition, Grange Mutual Insurance Company, and Timberland States Insurance Company.

April has been declared "Grange Month" by the National Grange, and is an opportunity to showcase the Grange organization - its purpose, programs and activities - in communities throughout the United States. The theme for Grange Month 2012 is "American Values, Hometown Roots" and is reflective of the efforts and accomplishments of Granges across the Nation.

Founded in 1867, the National Grange is the oldest US rural community-service, family-oriented organization with a special interest in agriculture.  Over the years, the Grange has evolved to incorporate the interests of rural, suburban and urban communities. Agricultural and legislative initiatives, education and communications access are just a few of the Grange's current areas of involvement. The organization has approximately 160,000 members in more than 2,100 local and state chapters nationwide.  The Connecticut State Grange has been an integral part of communities across the state for over 125 years, with nearly 60 local Grange chapters in Connecticut.
