Winchester Grange Musings for June

By Todd Gelineau, Winchester Grange President

  JUNE 3, 2012 --

As this article is being written, Winchester’s annual Spring Tag Sale is in full swing with many “bargains” available.  We are now looking forward to the annual Strawberry Festival on Fathers Day, June 17.  As always, we feature the area’s largest servings of homemade strawberry shortcake for the low price of $6 each (a meal in itself!).  The festivities kick off at 2:30 P.M. and run until we are out of berries and cream!  The Festival is also one of the official events attended by the 2012 Laurel Festival Queen and her court.  We are honored to have the current year’s Queen with us each year to greet festival-goers and Grange members alike.  Join us!

We are proud to welcome 5 new members to Winchester Grange.  Four received the degrees in April at Winchester along with candidates from several visiting Granges.  We will obligate one more member in June with the newly authorized Obligation Ceremony.  Our members have taken membership growth to heart with 10 new members joining the Grange within the last 12 months.
