| JANUARY 14, 2013 -- Hillstown Grange is holding a Soup-N-Seed event on Thursday, January 24. Doors open at 6:00 PM for our homemade soup dinner followed by a gardeners’ forum about getting the garden started. Soups will be made from this winter’s root cellar produce featuring Pumpkin and Garden Vegetable Soup.
The Agricultural Committee plans to announce this year’s special gardening contest and seeds will be available. Also a gardening discussion with question and answer time will start at 7:30 PM giving all gardeners a chance to talk and dream about our 2012 gardens. Bring your favorite seed catalogs to share. Great for novice or first time gardeners to learn from the old pros. Remember, in less than 2 months we can plant our peas!
The Hillstown Grange is located at 617 Hills Street, East Hartford, CT. Located in the Hillstown corner of East Hartford, Hillstown Grange has served the local communities, including Glastonbury and Manchester, since 1888. The Grange is one of the oldest agricultural groups in the United States.
No cost for this event but a free-will offering basket to cover dinner supplies will be provided. Snow date is February 28th.
