Riverton Grange News for April

By Shirley Moore

  APRIL 3, 2013 --

Our first meeting in February was entitled “Talent Night” and we found much talent among our members.  Kitty McKee did about six bird calls for identification.  We asked for a quartet of men to show their talent in singing; almost all of the brothers present stood up and did a great job singing “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” accompanied by Mary Lou Keefe.  There was also a table showcasing  knitting, crocheting and needlework, especially work by Akke Jasmine and  some of her mother’s creations.  We also had two visitors who had seen our article in the paper and she volunteered to sing “How Great Thou Art”.  We were pleased to have so much talent for the evening!

The second meeting was a “History of St. Valentine”, after which hearts with roses, all made by our lecturer, were distributed to all the sisters and chocolate hearts to all the brothers, while Mary Lou played appropriate music.

On March 1, the program was in charge of the Legislative Committee.  Phil Prelli presented a presidential quiz and also did a slide presentation of the Kelley Farm.  During the business meeting, Phil did the obligation ceremony for three new members and the Grange extends a hearty welcome to Debra Brydon, Karen Cersoli and Jennifer Lovovico.
