Around The Grange
North Stonington Community Grange News for June

By Nancy R. Weissmuller

  JUNE 10, 2013 --

Our April 12 program was presented by the Agricultural Committee.  It was an enjoyable mix of a skit, a game of charades and readings.  Jason Miner sang 2 verses of Home on the Range accompanied by his mom.

On April 28 we celebrated Grange Month by honoring long-time members and our Community Citizen, Jennifer Welborn.  Jennifer has contributed her time and talent in building an extensive science section in our local library.  She has designed and donated many kits that may be signed out and utilized by the community.  Jennifer also donates her time at the elementary school, teaching various classes to love science.

We presented a 70 year seal to Guz Crofts and 65 year seals to Mary Eppler, Dot Gurnee and Mac Gray.  Mary lives a great distance from our hall now; but she said she was happy to be reunited with two of her childhood friends at the meeting.  Seals were mailed to members unable to attend.

Please come to our annual picnic on the 28th.  The Grange provides hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages.  Bring a side dish to share and stay for the games and companionship after the meal.  And if the deer who came around at night will just develop a taste for something besides my hostas, next time I’ll tell you all about merry May.

June 14:  Mingle-mangle Election of Officers

June 28:  Farrago Annual Picnic / Potluck at 6:30 followed by games
