Around The Grange
July Musings from Winchester Grange

By Todd Gelineau

  JULY 8, 2015 --

Another successful Strawberry Festival is in the books!  Despite the torrential rain and wind the evening before (and part of the morning) plenty of people came to the hall on Father’s Day to enjoy their traditional GIANT strawberry shortcake and fellowship.  We also were please to have 2015 Laurel Queen Olivia Ortman with us along with her court to help serve shortcake.

Looking ahead- our Annual Grange Fair and Flea Market is rapidly approaching.  Premium flyers will be out soon with newly INCREASED PRIZE MONEY!!!  If you’re not in Winchester Center anytime soon, the flyer will be available at www.WinchesterGrange.org. We’d love to see you at the Grange on Aug. 8.

Calling all vendors:  the Flea Market at the Grange Fair is again looking for vendors to fill the Green.  For more information, please email info@winchestergrange.org to receive an application and to get vital information.

Plans are also underway for the 2015 Winchester Center Day to be held in September.  An exciting addition to this year’s event is an Art Show which will fill the Grange Hall.  Are you a starving artist?  Do you like to create art in your free time?  Contact us as if you would like more information about exhibiting and/or selling your art at Winchester Center Day.  The Grange will also have a tag sale on the lower level of the hall along with our hot dog stand and homemade apple crisp for sale.  The church will hold a car show on the green and the historical association will also have events throughout the day.  It’s a great community day – even for those that don’t live in Winchester Center.  Join us for a great day!

Iceland Affair also returns to Winchester Grange for the third time this October.  Gerri Griswold does a wonderful job bringing Icelandic artists, musicians, speakers and more to the Grange Hall for a day that celebrates a culture many of us know very little about.  Mark your calendars for October 17, 2015.  You’ll be glad you came!
