| SEPTEMBER 15, 2015 -- June was a busy month for our Grangers. Chaplain Cindy Prelli presented a meaningful program in memory of the following members who are no longer with us: Virginia Butler, Willard King, Louise Jasmine, Rujo Moore and Albert Yadach. The candle ceremony was very impressive. Our election of officers was held in June with Sue Belle-Isle elected Master; Sharon Russell, Overseer; Dawn Anstett, Lecturer and Peter Keefe was elected for a three-year term on the Executive Committee. We congratulate all those who accepted an office at our grange and wish them a fruitful year. Members and friends are encouraged to attend in support of our new officers.
June was also Dairy Month. Members Amanda & Rachel Freund prepared and hosted a dairy dinner at our grange on June 13. They also presented much information about new technology at the Freund Farm in Canaan. It was a fun evening with excellent food (all dairy, plus chicken), entertainment and much education.
During July and August we changed our by-laws, hosted our annual grange fair and held planning meetings for the ensuing year. The bylaw change requires one business meeting per month rather than two. Other meetings and special events will be announced and advertised via our newly formed Publicity Committee.
Please watch for grange events via Channel 13, newspapers, email, telephone, and Facebook. The changes are reflected in the newest Pomona handbook. The annual fair under the direction of Dawn Anstett had many entries especially in the flowers and vegetable departments. Thank you to Jon Krish for providing an educational piece on master gardening.
All are invited to attend our Installation of Officers on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. The Prelli Installing Team under the direction of Gail Prelli will install our new officers. Gail always does a beautiful job, as do her associates. Our own George Russell will be installed as Pomona Master at Riverton Grange, on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 7:30 p.m.
