From The Historian's Desk
Do You Remember?

By Edith Schoell, State Historian

  MARCH 2010 --

For all you "youngsters", do you remember our State Session in 1965? It was held at Footguard Hall in Hartford with Alfred C. Beckwith serving as State Master.

After the formal opening the Grange was at ease and Governor John Dempsey was presented at the Master's station. Governor Dempsey extended his personal congratulations to our organization for the fine work it has done and was doing in the state, mentioning the good work at the various fairs in the state. He encouraged continuing the work done with young people, and mentioned the fine principles of the Grange which uphold and strengthen belief in country, God and fellow man.

Overseer, Jerome Keech, thanked the Governor for his remarks and presented him with an application for membership.

That year it was reported that we held our own on membership. The Youth held the second annual Coronation Ball at the Meriden Town Hall with good attendance.
