From The Chaplain's Desk
February 2008 Chaplain's Corner

By Amy Whitcomb, State Chaplain

FEBRUARY 2008 -- As we leave the bleak month of January behind and look forward to a renewal at the end of March we turn our thoughts toward trying to find positive things in our lives.  This may come as a surprise to you but failure is an illusion.  Everything we do produces a result.  Failure is a judgment.  It is an opinion.  Failure comes from your fears which can be eliminated by love.  Love for yourself, love for what you do, love for yourself and love for the planet.

When there is love within you fear cannot survive.  Think of the message in the ancient wisdom:  Fear knocked at the door, love answered and no one was there.  The music that you hear within you encouraging you to take risks and follow your dreams is your connection to the purpose in your heart since birth.  Be enthusiastic about all that you do.  Have passion with the awareness that the word enthusiasm literally means God within.  The passion that you feel inside is God beckoning you to take the risk and be your own person.

I have found that perceived risks are not risky at all once you go beyond your fears and let love and self-respect in.  When you love and respect yourself, someone’s disapproval is not something that you fear and avoid.  Follow your right brain, listening to how you feel and you will not have to fear anything or anyone.  The invisible companion on your right shoulder will prod you each time you are moving away from your purpose.
