President's Message
President's Message: Have a Great Grange Year

By George Russell, CT State Grange President

  January 3, 2022 --

Let’s have a great Grange year by having a net gain in membership, the lifeblood of our Granges. Last year we had several Granges bring in new members and restarted Redding Grange. Unfortunately, Colchester Grange has turned in its Charter and will be merging with Coventry Grange No. 75.

When Sharon and I attended the National Convention last November, we brought home certificates for the Honor Grange with a net gain in membership. The Granges in Connecticut for 2020 are Beacon Valley #103, Bridgewater #153, Cannon #152, Lyme #147, Norfield #146, Vernon #52 and Winchester #74. Granges receiving certificates for 2021 are Cannon    #152, Colchester #78, Hillstown #87, Oxford #194 and Riverton #169. Congratulations to these Granges for their fine work and recruiting new members. I have handed out the certificates to Mountain Laurel Pomona and will be sending the rest of them in the mail.  Congratulations again.

The Roberts family from Riverton Grange, was recognized for their membership of five generations. Congratulations to Dave Roberts and Natalie who are the fourth and fifth generation members at Riverton Grange.

It was so good to see so many Grangers having holiday celebrations at their Grange Halls! Getting back to potluck dinners, cookie exchanges, public dinners and even visits from Santa.

Let’s all work together and move forward in 2022 and have a great year!
