Aug News from Riverton Grange No. 169

By Dave Roberts

  AUGUST 1, 2023 --

Aug. 4: Meeting & Program, “Favorite Vacation Memories!” Ref. Cindy & Mark Prelli.

Aug. 6: Honoring Our Veteran of the Month (Barkhamsted Sr. Ctr. 6 PM)

Aug. 18-19: Riverton Grange Fair, Set-up on Friday, fair on Saturday. Comm. Citizen Award Presentation at 12 Noon.

Riverton Grange met virtually on July 7 for its monthly meeting. Our Grange complimented the completed Grange Hall front porch renovation project funded by the Town of Barkhamsted’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant totaling $14,700. In addition to the renovated porch, some damaged vinyl siding was replaced by our contractor. Our Grange also learned that a grant proposal for the Northwest CT Comm. Foundation for funds to repair and renovate our Grange Hall’s two bathrooms has now been moved up on the funding list, so Judy Doyle is now working on a $10,000 grant request.

We are investigating the possibility of hosting an Oktoberfest- style event with beer and wine at the Riverton Grange Hall during the Riverton Fair. We are working with the Riverton Vol. Fire Dept. to see if it can be realized this year.

Our planning continues for the 34th Annual Riverton Grange Fair on Sat., Aug. 19th from 10 AM to 2

P.M. continuing our long tradition of showcasing exhibits from local farmers and crafters. This year entries can be submitted online, by mail or in-person. The deadline for submission is Aug. 15. Junior exhibitors are also encouraged to enter. Visit our website at www.rivertongrange.org .
